New games by chain: September 2023

Summer is gone – at least in our part of the world – and everyone’s back at work; something that’s been noticeable in the uptick of blockchain gaming activity.

In line with this trend, the Big List has seen an addition of 90 games during September, compared to 39 games during August.

This brings the total of live games (334) or projects in development (667) on the list to 1,001. This amount is most certainly lower in reality due to a number of projects having scrapped their blockchain integration, but we’ve not done our big revision of ‘discontinued games’ of 2023.

We also onboarded a new blockchain, TON, for which reason it’s the top chain in terms of new titles. Powered by Toncoin, TON, which is short for The Open Network, is an open source tech originally started by Telegram and since run externally. However, the two are closely linked with TON and increasingly well integrated with the 800 million-strong Telegram app.

Sui recently launched its new gaming hub Play Beyond, which is the reason for its 10% increase in games this month. By no means are all of these new announced games, they’ve just not been listed before.

Wemix has had a couple of games discontinued recently, no big surprise considering how many games they’ve boasted to have. However, this is somewhat countered by a bunch of new games deploying on its Wemix Play platform.

Additional onchain action in September:

  • Raini’s The Lords of Light which currently has its RAINI token live on Ethereum, BNB and Fantom, announced it’s migrating to Merit Cirle’s Avalanche-powered Beam network. Joining them on Beam is also social deduction game Castle of Blackwater.
  • Pixels announced it’s moving from Polygon to Sky Mavis’ Ronin network.
  • Striker League (prev. MonkeyLeague), Photo Finish Line and Parallel have all gone cross-chain, also deploying on Coinbase’s L2 Base.
  • Wemix-based Giant Monster War, Polygon and Ethereum-based Ethlas, and Forte-based Proxi have all been announced as discontinued for various reasons.
  • Upland announced it’s introducing a new Sparklet token on Ethereum, which is an expansion from its current Custom (EOS) network.
  • Finally, Castle Crush, which is deployed on Avalanche, has returned to the Big List due to the game seemingly being revitalised.
